K38 Goes to Okinawa

K38 Okinawa 2008

USMC Camp Hansen Fire Rescue Training, April 2008

I arrived in Okinawa to the familiar tropical atmosphere of warm air currents and beautiful colored waters. I was soon to be working again with my team mates from K38 Japan to train the USMC based fire rescue personnel under the guidance of thier Chief (Eric) who worked diligently for several years to create the RWC (Rescue Water Craft) program.

Many of you know in the fire rescue field how difficult it is to create new programs, acquire equipment and get personnel trained properly. Oftentimes it takes years to cut through the bureaucracy of change.

Eric and Scott got the ball rolling and I got to play in their court. Our game was good. The players are solid. Six consecutive days of training, no complaints and the men are good to go!

Two Shifts (A&B) were trained back to back with an K38 Open Water Rescue Boat Course, the course employed Kawasaki LX Ultra's and a STX 15 were used with Lifsleds.

Special Thanks to: K38 Japan instructors, MARIS, Plus One Marine Shop and the firefighters who serve you.
